Flying Cars

In the next 20 years, the flying cars will be reality. Many corporates are testing their models. On the roads, they are cars. In the skies, they are aircrafts. After landing, they fold up their wings. Wikipedia lists over 30 such designs in the development stage. Some are going to be EVs. Some will have autonomous capabilities. They will be used for commutes, as VTOL or vertical take off and landing capability will make them capable of landing on roofs. Some will be used as air taxis. They will give a big boost to e-commerce. Drivers will have pilot licenses and must undergo flying training. Commuters will be able to avoid traffic jams. According to Morgan Stanley, air car market will be worth $ 1 trillion by 2040. A small table attached herewith lists the various models under development.

AirCar : 160 bhp BMW engine by Klein Vision, Slovak. It flies at the speed of 190 kmph in air. After landing, it takes 3 minutes to fold to become a high performance car. It is a flying car and driveable aircraft.

Terrafugia Transition: It is light sports aircraft. It is two-seater.

Volocity: It is volocopter. It is autonomous air taxi.

Liberty: PALV, Germany makes it. It is approved in Holland.

AeroMobil: BMW, Lockheed Martin makes it. It is Airbus. It has a speed of 160 kmph on ground and 250 kmph in air.

Sky Drive: It is EV by Toyota. It has VTOL or Vertical Take off and Landing capability.

Vertile: Autonomous quad-copter with wheels by GM. It is used for urban commutes. It can land on roofs.

Pop Up: it is fully autonomous electric taxi by Audi- Airbus. While on roads, it has four wheels. It has VTOL eight rotor unit.
