Chinese firms too are working on generative AI. Sensetime puts many products, e.g. a chatbot and image generator. Huawei’s AI model have applications ranging from drug development to computer vision. Baidu has rolled out Ernie Bot which will power its search engine. It will strengthen efficiency in clouds, smart cars and household appliances. Tencent has a team that is developing a chatbot called called HunyuanAide. Fudan University has launched a chatbot called Moss. JD. COM, an e-commerce company is going to launch ChatJD. China Telecom is developing an industrial version of ChatGPT for telecoms. Inspur has invested in AI-generated content technology. Alibaba’s Tongyi Qianwen, a large language model of AI is being conceived on the lines of GPT. The company wants to integrate it into business applications.

China’s cyberspace regulator wants the companies to submit security reviews to the authorities before launching their AI products. The Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC) expects the content generated by generative AI to be in line with China’s socialist values. The companies will be responsible for the legitimacy of data used in generative AI to train its models. Steps should be taken to avoid discrimination while designing algorithms and using training data. The service providers must reveal their identity.

In case inappropriate content is generated by the models, there should be steps to prevent the generation of similar content within three months.
